Lyrics

Lyrics

The road may not be paved
But you know what they say
You don’t want to go
Where that road’s goin’ anyway

So pick up where you are
Start drivin’ your own car
Follow where the signs point to go
Out beyond the Easy Road

You don’t have to barter
Play masochist or martyr
[Or] take the road less traveled
Just because it’s harder

You can switch your gears
Turn off over here
Follow where the signs point to go
Out beyond that Easy Road

La-la-la
Out beyond that easy road

Join the traffic flow
Go where you want to go
You can go fast or you can take it slow

Give yourself a green light
Do not fear the dark night
Set your sights and go
Out beyond the Easy Road

La-la-la
Out beyond the easy road

I don’t know what’s comin’
‘round the bend
I don’t know where this road ends

I don’t know, I don’t know
Only know I’ve got to go
Out beyond the Easy Road

Once you find your ease
Hair blowin’ in the breeze
You’ll find you enjoy the scenery

Once you’re in your flow
Going where you want to go
You’ll see
Better yet, you’ll know

You’re on the Easy Road

Story

This was one of the first songs I wrote on the guitar after teaching myself to play.  Simple chords, but I was thrilled to be able to play something other than the twangy one note at a time I had been playing.

Find your own easy road, where you can be who you are and get to where you want to go.
